To our ‘Town Square’ Community,
Given the times we live in, February’s month-long commemoration of Black History Month is more important now than ever before. Black history needs to be better understood, which is why the Rosen JCC will devote part of its ECLC Kindergarten curriculum this month to learn about significant figures in the civil rights movement. Hand-in-hand, the Jewish community has always worked together with the civil rights movement. Still today, we continue fighting for social justice, humanity, inclusion, and equality. We need to continue the work of our ancestors and leaders.
Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, a civil rights activist and Jewish scholar, said “Racism is man’s gravest threat to man- the maximum of hatred for a minimum of reason.” Our Southwest Orlando community is rich in its diversity and tolerance.
Let us all try to be the change that we seek!
